If bruises like these appear on your body, it means you are..

Bruises usually occur after a blow or trauma and are bleeding under the skin. They can be painful and change color from red, purple, and blue to yellow-green as they heal. However, when bruises occur frequently, for no apparent reason, and in unusual places, they may be a sign of a serious health condition.

When are bruises normal?

  • After a fall or impact

  • In people with more sensitive capillaries

  • During intense workouts

  • In case of vitamin deficiency (C, K or iron)

In these cases, the bruises resolve within 7–14 days and are not a cause for serious concern.

When do bruises signal a problem?

If they appear frequently, for no apparent reason, or are excessively large and painful, it may be a symptom of a deeper health problem. Possible causes include:

  • Blood clotting disorders – hemophilia, thrombocytopenia.

  • Liver diseases – as the liver is responsible for the synthesis of clotting factors.

  • Vitamin deficiency – especially vitamin C and vitamin K.

  • Leukemia or other oncological diseases - spontaneous bruising is often observed in these patients.

  • Taking medications - anticoagulants, aspirin, or corticosteroids can cause bruising.

Relationship with cance

One of the most dangerous causes of unexplained bruising is blood cancer (leukemia). In this disease, the number and quality of blood cells are altered, leading to easy bruising, bleeding from the gums or nose, and extreme fatigue.

What to do?

  • Watch for bruises that appear frequently and for no reason.

  • Pay attention to accompanying symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding gums, or fever.

  • See a doctor for unexplained or persistent bruises.

  • Maintain a balanced diet with enough vitamins and minerals.

Conclusion

Bruises are not always harmless. Although they are often the result of a minor injury, when they appear frequently and without explanation, this can be a signal of a serious illness, including cancer. Do not postpone consulting a specialist - early diagnosis is the key to successful treatment.
