The blood vessels don't hurt, they don't feel heavy, they don't feel tense. They just wear out silently. And then – suddenly: your blood pressure jumps, your legs swell, your heart beats in panic. And you don't understand – where does this come from?

And the reason is often on the plate. More precisely, in what we put on it every day.

Blood vessels don't age just with age. They also age from food that thickens the blood, inflames the walls of the arteries, and provokes the accumulation of cholesterol. And we often fuel this process ourselves without even realizing it.

Check yourself - were any of the following foods on your table this morning?

1. Sausages and hot dogs

They're convenient—you slice them and serve them. But in reality, they're mixtures of salt, trans fats, and preservatives that put a strain on the liver, raise levels of "bad" cholesterol, and cause inflammation in the blood vessel walls.

Why are they harmful:

• Increase blood viscosity

• Increase LDL cholesterol

• Reduces the elasticity of blood vessels

Healthy alternative:  boiled chicken or turkey, baked fish.

2. Refined sunflower oil (especially when frying)

It is used frequently — especially repeatedly. But when heated, this oil forms compounds that damage blood vessel walls, thicken the blood, and trigger inflammatory processes.

Why is it harmful:

• Excess omega-6 fatty acids lead to inflammation

• Toxic compounds are formed when frying

Healthy alternative : olive oil (for cold use only), and for cooking — clarified butter (ghee) or coconut oil.

3. White bread and pasta

They seem harmless—especially for breakfast. But simple carbohydrates spike blood sugar, trigger an insulin response, and trigger inflammation. This is a shortcut to internal vessel damage.

Why are they harmful:

• Blood sugar spikes damage artery walls

• Increase triglyceride levels

• Reduce the elasticity of blood vessels

Healthy alternative:  whole grain or rye bread — in moderation.

4. Sweet yogurts and ready-made desserts

They may look appetizing, but they are full of sugar, flavorings, and starches. Even when labeled “natural,” the ingredients can be a drain trap. Sugar causes inflammation, and the fats in desserts increase cholesterol buildupс от ...

Why are they harmful:

They simultaneously increase blood sugar and cholesterol

They worsen blood composition

They increase inflammatory processes in the vessels

Healthy alternative:  homemade sugar-free yogurt, berries, nuts, cottage cheese.

5. Carbonated drinks and canned juices

Even if it says "sugar-free," they contain artificial sweeteners, which can also be harmful. Carbonated drinks contribute to inflammation, increase acidity, and disrupt the body's water balance.

Why are they harmful:

• Cause spikes in blood sugar

• Trigger hidden inflammatory reactions

• Increase the risk of high blood pressure and diabetes

Healthy alternative:  water with lemon, homemade fruit drinks without sugar, mint or rosehip tea.

What else damages the vessels — without us realizing it:

Excess salt  — leads to fluid retention and high blood pressure

Insufficient water intake  — blood thickens

Overeating in the evening  — puts a strain on the heart

Sedentary lifestyle  — reduces vascular tone

How to keep your vessels healthy every day:

Start your day with a glass of water — it “wakes up” your blood circulation.

Eat more vegetables and fiber — they help clear excess cholesterol

Include nuts and oily fish — sources of healthy fats

Move at least 30 minutes a day

Cut down on sugar and salt — your dishes will thank you

Conclusion

Blood vessels suffer not from age, but from small everyday habits. A sausage sandwich, French fries and a glass of soda — they seem harmless. But after the age of 50, exactly such habits lead to high blood pressure, headaches, swelling and even a heart attack.

Take a critical look at your menu. If at least two or three of the listed foods are part of your daily routine, it's time for a change. The dishes can be stored. But the beginning is on the plate.
